Now: Injustice 2

I almost took this full circle to Devil May Cry 5's awesome cutscenes. I also briefly considered other titles for the spot. Uncharted 4 almost got this one (in fact, I started writing this wanting to give this to Uncharted 4), but Injustice 2 reminded it me it existed, and immediately got it.

Injustice 2's beautifully animated and visually impressive cutscenes wouldn't have been enough to get it. It's the acting in them, how well they fit the tone, and most of all,  how much they manage to make you care about the characters and the story of a fighting game.
